Tall screens have become the trend in smartphones in recent years, with many companies switching to aspect ratios like 18:9 and 19.5:9 rather than sticking with a 16:9 aspect ratio. Now a new leak shows that Sony may be pushing things even farther.
The upcoming Sony Xperia XA3 has been leaked by WinFuture with a 21:9 display. The device has a super tall screen with slim bezels around it, save for up top where it's got a larger forehead. We can also see a dual camera setup around back, a USB-C port on the bottom of the device, and what looks to be a 3.5mm headphone jack up top. There's also a fingerprint reader on the side of the device.
Spec details for this Xperia XA3 are still light, but rumors have suggested that it could include a 5.9-inch screen, octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of built-in storage. The dual rear camera setup is said to offer 23MP and 8MP sensors, and it's expected that a 3500mAh battery will power the whole package.
While we've seen quite a few taller screens on smartphones in recent years, the 21:9 display on this leaked Sony Xperia XA3 still looks a little...different. It could be nice for people who watch a lot of movies on their phone, and it'll be interesting to use Android in general on such on tall display. Sony could show this device at MWC later this month, so we may not have to wait long to see the Xperia XA3 and its super tall screen in action.
