Facebook says it has banned an app called myPersonality from its platform for failing to agree to an audit. Facebook is in the process of auditing apps that run on its platform to ensure they meet minimum guidelines with respect to user privacy and their data. Facebook claims "it's clear that [myPersonality] shared information with researchers as well as companies with only limited protections in place." The data of about 4 million people may have been misused and Facebook will notify those people. The myPersonality app was mainly active before 2012. Facebook has been investigating thousands of apps since March and has suspended more than 400 over concerns the apps are sharing data illicitly. The social network kicked off the security push in the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, in which a U.K.-based research firm absconded with the data of millions of users and shared it with others.
