T-Mobile sending Android Pie to its Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+

Samsung Galaxy S9+ hands-on

T-Mobile Galaxy S9 and S9+ owners, it looks like your Android Pie updates are now ready for consumption.

The Android Pie updates for T-Mobile's Galaxy S9 and S9+ are now rolling out, according to several users on Reddit who just got them. The updates were announced on Monday, but T-Mo quickly put them on hold and didn't say much else about it. Now the updates appear to be going out, and they're the same versions that were previously announced: G960USQU3CSAB for the S9 and G965USQU3CSAB for the S9+.

Both updates are more than 1.9GB in size, so be prepared to wait a bit before you actually get to start playing with Pie. Once installed, you'll find Samsung's One UI, which is an updated user interface with improvements like a night mode to help save your eyes and battery life, and interactive elements that've been moved to the bottom of the screen to make them easier to reach.

The update also brings RCS Universal Profile 1.0, which offers improvements to messaging like typing and read indicators, larger group chats, and larger file transfers when you're chatting with other RCS-enabled users. T-Mobile says that these updates also bring Band 28 roaming support and other unspecified bug fixes and improvements.

We saw the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ begin receiving Android Pie on carriers like Xfinity Mobile and Verizon at the end of January, so some T-Mobile Galaxy S9 and S9+ owners were probably starting to wonder where their helping of Pie was at. Now it looks like the wait is now over, so if you've got a T-Mo Galaxy S9 or S9+, check to see if there's an update waiting for you.
