Samsung Galaxy Watch Active appears in renders, specs also leaked

Samsung Galaxy Watch Active leak

Details on Samsung's new Galaxy smartwatch continue to trickle out, and today we're getting what looks to be the device's official name as well as some spec details.

The upcoming smartwatch will be called the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active, according to logos found inside the device's firmware files by an XDA-Developers forum user. Those same files also spilled some of the watch's specs, which reportedly include a 1.3-inch 360x360 round display, Exynos 9110 processor, a 230mAh battery, GPS, NFC, and heart rate monitoring.

Some more renders of the Galaxy Watch Sport have also leaked out at TigerMobiles, giving us a peek at the upcoming wearable's black and gold color options.

It wasn't that long ago that Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch, but this new Galaxy Watch Active seems to be more of a fitness-focused wearable while the regular Galaxy Watch is more of a fashion timepiece. With its smooth case, the Galaxy Watch Active could also be an option for folks that want a smartwatch with a simpler look compared to the ridged casing of the Galaxy Watch.

Samsung is hosting an event for the Galaxy S10 on February 20, but it's also possible that we could meet the Galaxy Watch Active on that date, so stay tuned.
