Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e features 10.5-inch AMOLED screen, thin body, and $399 price tag

There aren't a ton of companies making new Android tablets, but Samsung is one of them, and today it took the wraps off of its newest Android-powered slate.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is a new premium Android 9.0 tablet with a super thin, metal body. It's got a 10.5-inch 2560x1600 Super AMOLED, and Samsung has ditched the home button that it's used on previous tablets to help give the front a cleaner look. There is a fingerprint reader on the side of the Tab S5e's 5.5mm-thick body, though.

Inside that body is an octa-core Snapdragon 670 processor paired with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM. There are 64GB and 128GB storage options, but they both come with a microSD card slot so that you can add more storage if you'd like. Samsung has also thrown in Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and a 7040mAh battery with fast charging support.

There's a 13MP rear camera on the Galaxy Tab S5e for when you need to snap some pics with your tablet, and the front is home to an 8MP camera for selfies and video chats. Quad speakers with Dolby Atmos will help to give you a better entertainment experience with your tablet, and there are POGO pins for attaching accessories like a keyboard or charging dock. There's a USB-C 3.1 ports, too, and a Type-C headset connector is included.

On the software side, the Galaxy Tab S5e is the first tablet to come with Bixby 2.0 to help you find restaurants and coffee shops, controls your smart home devices, and generally be your digital assistant. Samsung has also included DeX to give you a PC-like experience when you pair the Tab S5e with a keyboard, and call and message continuity will let you answer a call or reply to a message from your tablet, even if your phone is far away or on a different Wi-Fi network.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e will launch in Q2 2019 at a price of $399. That makes it quite a bit cheaper than the Galaxy Tab S4 that launched late last year, giving Android users who want an iPad Pro-style Android tablet a more affordable option.
