2019 iPhone models will reportedly keep Lightning port, 5W wall charger

A recent rumor suggested that Apple was testing some versions of its 2019 iPhone models with USB-C instead of Lightning, but now it sounds like Apple won't be making that switch this year.

Apple will stick with Lightning ports for its 2019 iPhone models, according to a report from Mac Otakara. It's also expected that Apple will continue to pack in a pair of wired headphones and a 5W USB all charger with its upcoming iPhones.

After moving to USB-C with its new iPad Pro tablets last year, some may have thought that Apple could be making the switch to USB-C on its iPhones, too. Now it doesn't sound like that'll be the case, though, at least not this year. That news may be disappointing to some iPhone users who have been wanting to go all-in on USB-C, but it's also not a huge surprise. Switching to USB-C would be a big change for Apple that would also likely be more expensive. With rumors that the 2019 iPhones will look largely similar to the existing models but with a third camera for the new Max model, Apple could wait until a bigger iPhone design change to make the jump to USB-C.

Would you like to see Apple switch to USB-C on the iPhone?
