Heads up, Netflix customers, because your bill is about to get just a little bit more expensive.
Netflix today confirmed that it's increasing prices on all of its plans in the U.S. The standard plan, which is the most popular, will go from $11 per month to $13 per month. This plan includes HD streaming, the ability to download titles to two phones or tablets, and the ability to stream on two devices at the same time.
The basic Netflix plan is growing from $8 per month to $9. This plan offers streaming at one device at a time in SD quality as well as the ability to download titles to one phone or tablet.
Finally, Netflix's premium plan will increase from $14 per month to $16. This top-end plan lets you stream on four devices at once and includes UHD streaming when available. Customers on this plan can also download titles on up to four phones or tablets.
These new prices will apply to new customers immediately. Existing Netflix subscribers will see them roll out over the next three months.
Netflix is producing a lot of original content lately and that can get expensive, especially as the company works to produce high-quality TV shows and movies with intricate designs and settings. That effort to make original content that'll attract customers will only grow in the future as the battle over streaming services continues and new competitors like Apple enter the fray.
