LG to announce 5G smartphone with Vapor Chamber at MWC, Huawei prepping 5G foldable phone

Several carriers are launching 5G networks this year, and so some device makers are releasing 5G smartphones that can run on those networks. That includes LG and Huawei.

LG has confirmed that it'll announce a 5G smartphone at MWC 2019 next month. The device will use Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 855 processor, a 4000mAh battery, and a Vapor Chamber to help keep the phone running cool. This Vapor Chamber is 2.7 times larger than the heat pipe found in the LG V40 ThinQ and contains more than two times as much water.

Sprint previously announced that it's working with LG to launch its first 5G smartphone. This device that LG is teasing could very well be that model. Sprint has said that its 5G smartphone from LG will launch in the first half of 2019.

Meanwhile, Huawei also confirmed that it plans to show off a 5G smartphone at MWC. Huawei wants to one-up the competition, though, by giving its 5G phone a foldable screen. No other details about the device are available, but with MWC kicking off on February 25, it won't be long before more details come out.
