LG G8 design shown off in new renders

LG G8 renders leak

Today is turning into a big day for leaking Android flagships, because hours after we got a peek at the Samsung Galaxy S10+, new images of the LG G8 have come out.

These renders claim to show the LG G8, which is said to be codenamed "Alpha". The images, which aren't from LG but have been made based on factory CADs, show a device that looks largely similar to last year's LG G7 but with a few minor tweaks. The chin on the LG G8 looks a bit slimmer than the LG G7's, and the dual rear camera setup is laid out horizontally on the G8 while the G7's was positioned vertically.

There's a notch on this LG G8, just like on the G7, and it appears to house a dual front-facing camera setup. Around back are the aforementioned dual cameras along with a fingerprint reader. The bottom of the phone is home to a USB-C port for charging as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack, which is a welcome sight as some other smartphone makers have abandoned the headphone jack.

LG G8 front

Spec details on the LG G8 are light, but it is rumored to include a 6.1-inch QHD+ screen and and a feature called "Sound on Display" that could use vibration to turn the display into a speaker. Another possible inclusion is Qualcomm's new Snapdragon 855 processor.

LG hasn't made any announcements about an upcoming event or anything like that, so it's unclear when the G8 might be announced. A reveal at MWC 2019 next month is a possibility, but the LG G7 was announced in early May last year, so we could still be a few months away from an official LG G8 reveal.

What do you think of this leaked LG G8 design? Are you ok with a design that's similar to last year's LG G7?
