Nokia 7 official with glass front and back, up to 6GB of RAM

HMD Global today added another numbered entry into the Nokia family of Android phones.

The Nokia 7 is now official. It’s got a 5.2-inch 1920x1080 display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass on its front and rear, and it’s packing a Snapdragon 630 processor inside its shell. Also inside is 4GB/6GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, a microSD slot, and a 3,000mAh battery.

On the back of the Nokia 7 is a Zeiss-branded 16-megapixel camera with f/1.8 aperture and dual tone flash, and the front camera is a 5-megapixel sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 84-degree field of view. HMD is touting the Nokia 7’s “bothie” feature which lets you take photos using both the front and rear cameras side by side.

Rounding out the Nokia 7’s feature set is a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, Nokia OZO sound recording, USB Type-C, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and NFC. The Nokia 7 comes with Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but HMD says that it’s “upgradeable to Android Oreo in the future.”

The Nokia 7 will launch in China on October 24th with a starting price of ¥2,499 ($377 USD) for the model with 4GB of RAM. The 6GB model will cost ¥2,699 ($407 USD). There’s no word on when or if the Nokia 7 will make its way to other parts of the globe.

While it’s not the most high-end device in the Nokia family, the Nokia 7 still looks like a nice addition to HMD’s lineup of Android phones. It’s got a glass back and front with aluminum for a premium feel, plenty of RAM, and a 16MP camera, all for quite a bit less than its flagship Nokia 8 sibling. Here’s to hoping that we see the Nokia 7 make its way to other regions soon.
