Yesterday was a big day for Apple, with the company introducing major new products like the iPhone X and iPhone 8. Turns out that there was some iPad news, too, but Apple didn’t make any announcements about it.
Apple has quietly upped the prices on select iPad Pro models. Specifically, the 256GB and 512GB models of the 10.5-inch and 12.9-inch iPad Pros have gone up by $50. Here’s how these models were priced at launch, and below is what the prices look like now:
10.5-inch iPad Pro
- Wi-Fi: 64GB for $649, 256GB for $799, 512GB for $999
- Wi-Fi + Cellular: 64GB for $779, 256GB for $929, 512GB for $1,129
12.9-inch iPad Pro
- Wi-Fi: 64GB for $799, 256GB for $949, 512GB for $1,149
- Wi-Fi + Cellular: 64GB for $929, 256GB for $1,079, 512GB for $1,279
Apple hasn’t said why the prices of these iPad Pro models have increased, but some have speculated that it could be due to increased costs of memory. Whatever the reason, it’s kind of disappointing to see a product quietly go up in price months after launch. If you’re in the market for an iPad Pro, it might be worth shopping around online and trying to find a retailer that hasn’t yet matched Apple’s price increase.
