After cooking up an Iron Man Galaxy S6 edge in 2015 and a Batman Galaxy S7 edge in 2016, Samsung has revealed another special edition Galaxy S flagship with a movie tie-in.
A new Pirates of the Caribbean Galaxy S8 model has been revealed. It’s now available in China on JD.com at a price of CNY5988, or $879 USD.
So what’s special about this Pirates of the Caribbean Galaxy S8? The phone itself is actually a standard Galaxy S8, complete with a 5.8-inch 2960x1440 Super AMOLED display, Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. What’s special is that the phone comes with a special Pirates-themed case and phone ring holder. There’s also a Pirates theme running on the GS8.
All of those goodies are packed into a Pirates of the Caribbean-themed box, complete with a skull and crossbones as well as the name of the new Pirates movie.
While this Pirates of the Caribbean Galaxy S8 doesn’t have any special designs or anything on the phone itself like the aforementioned Iron Man and Batman phones, the extra goodies could still be exciting for fans of the Pirates movies. The bad news is that it’s unclear when or if Samsung will offer this Pirates-themed GS8 outside of China, so hardcore fans of those movies may have to pony up to import the phone if they really want one.
