The LG G6 may no longer be the newest Android flagship on the block, but LG is bringing it back into the spotlight today with some news regarding its high-end handset.
Today LG is extending the manufacturer’s warranty that comes with the G6 from 12 months to 24 months with its Second Year Promise. This means that if your LG G6 is defective and falls under the limited warranty, you’ll have the option of getting a replacement for up to 24 months instead of just 12. That replacement will arrive in two business days.
In order to take advantage of this extended manufacturer’s warranty, existing LG G6 owners will need to point their browsers at LG’s website and register their device. G6 owners will need to do this within 90 days of purchasing their deice. If you’ve already got a G6, you’ve got 90 days to register your device for the Second Year Promise.
As for why it’s making this move, LG explains that its customers are now using their phones for longer, so they wanted to offer warranty coverage for those people, too.
The LG G6 Second Year Promise isn’t an insurance program, meaning that it’s not going to cover you if you drop your phone and damage it. It will protect against defects for an additional year, though, giving G6 owners a bit more peace of mind if they decide to keep their device for two years. Considering that the Second Year Promise doesn’t cost G6 owners anything extra, this is a nice little move from the folks at LG.
