Google Assistant to Live In (Your) Google Home

Google today made its Amazon Echo competitor, Google Home, available for preorder. Google Home is powered by the Google Assistant. The device resembles a Bluetooth speaker, and in fact contains a speaker for playing music. The Assistant, which is also baked into the new Pixel smartphones from Google, is able to help people with a wide number of queries and tasks. For example, people can ask Google Home to play tunes from third-party music services like Spotify, YouTube Music, Pandora, and others; to perform language translations or math conversions; check commuting times or the weather; and much more. Further, it interacts with Google-owned Nest products for controlling in-home thermostats and security cameras. The Google Home can be preordered from Google's web site. The Home costs $129. People can customize their Google Home with swappable bases for $20 each. Google Home ships in November.
