NVIDIA Shield Tablet receiving update with improvements to Wi-Fi, camera performance and more

NVIDIA Shield Tablet

Did you pick up an NVIDIA Shield Tablet when it went on sale in late July? If so, you’ll be glad to hear that your gaming-centric slate is now receiving its first software update.

The Shield Tablet’s update bumps its software up version 1.1 and weighs in at just 84.1MB. That may not be much, but the update includes some nice tweaks:

  • Improved Wi-Fi stability in certain scenarios

  • Improved camera performance

  • NVIDIA PRISM feature toggle

  • Stability improvements to SHIELD Hub and Gamestream

  • ShadowPlay performance optimizations

  • Localization improvements

  • Audio optimizations

  • Misc. stability improvements

As Android Police points out, NVIDIA PRISM (Pixel Rendering Intensity and Saturation Management) is a feature that lowers the Shield Tablet’s backlight while boosting pixel color in an effort to offer the same visual quality of a bright screen while extending battery life.

Overall this looks like a nice update that address many different issues of the Shield Tablet that owners have run into since the device’s launch. If you’ve got a Shield Tablet laying around, you should dive on into its Settings app and check to see if you’ve got some piping hot software waiting for you.
